Customer Advisory – COVID 19 Update for EMEA North America & Latin America

March 3, 2020

As the COVID 19 virus spreads globally, APL Logistics will be issuing distinct advisories by region to provide a clearer picture of possible impacts and preparations being made.

NAM: In North America, the JOC is reporting on empty container return issues and other problems at the LA/LGB ports. Please note that APL Logistics is not responsible for any fees incurred if empty containers cannot be returned due to terminal operator actions. For more information please see the JOC article, LA-LB work shift cancellations hamper container returns.

EMEA: Confirmed cases in Italy are growing, but our EMEA region reports no significant delays. Across EMEA, accounts have been contacted to engage in short and long-term planning sessions and we have BCP plans in place in the event of quarantine or other disruptions.

LATAM: Latin America is reporting “business as usual” with no notable disruptions to service. BCP plans are in place and ready to be activated when and if necessary.

Globally, we are seeing reports of air freight rates increasing – coverage of this can be found at The Loadstar, Air freight rates soar: ‘it’s all about deep pockets and whether shippers can pay’.

Please reach out to your local APL Logistics representatives with any concerns. We will continue to publish these advisories every other day, or as specific incidents arise.

As always, information regarding the COVID-19, including Q&A, online training, technical guidelines, preventative measures, travel guidance, etc. can be found on the WHO website: https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus, and we encourage you to reference local health authorities and guidelines in your area.
