Customer Advisory: Advisory on Myanmar’s Situation – Update #2
With the rising tension and ongoing military coup, martial law* has been imposed in certain townships and districts in Myanmar.
The overall situation has caused massive disruptions to the supply chain in Myanmar. Customs’ operations, trucking, vessel sailings, equipment availability, and bank services have all been impacted. Factories and depots are also working with skeletal labor force. Daily communications are possible, but with intermittent internet connectivity and delayed responses.
Please refer below for an overview of our current operational status:
- APLL downtown office is closed, with 100% of staff working from home;
- APLL is still able to manage bookings;
- As of date of Advisory, APLL-CFS is temporarily closed for security reasons until further notice;
- Trucking service is temporarily suspended;
- Ocean carriers can release bookings subject to their own security/ operational considerations;
- Myanmar Port Authority has started to operate but with limited working hours;
The safety and well-being of our employees are our top priorities. All staff are currently safe and accounted for. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will work directly with customers in the event of any impact or potential impact. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact your APL Logistics Account Manager or local APL Logistics office.
*Martial law: Under the junta’s regime, this means that the military commander of the Yangon region is given “full administrative and judicial authority” in districts where martial law is declared
