Customer Advisory: EVER GIVEN – Reports of Grounding at the Suez Canal
ULTRA LARGE CONTAINER SHIP, EVER GIVEN: REPORTS OF GROUNDING SHORTLY AFTER ENTERING THE SUEZ CANAL
March 24, 2021
You are receiving this advisory because you may have cargo or have cargo scheduled to sail on the EVER GIVEN.
Please be advised that on March 23, 2021, the EVER GIVEN was reported to have run hard aground shortly after entering the Suez Canal in a northbound convoy. Vessel traffic is reportedly blocked in both directions as a result of the grounding. There are also early indications that other vessels near the grounding may face possible delays. It is understood that tugs are providing assistance to attempt to refloat the vessel.
As a precautionary measure, we recommend that you contact your cargo transportation insurers and put them on notice that your cargo was on board this vessel at the time of the incident.
As we learn more about the disposition of APL Logistics’ NVOCC containers onboard the EVER GIVEN—as well as possible delays of other vessels with APLL containers—we will issue further updates.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your APL Logistics Account Manager or local APL Logistics office.
