Customer Advisory: Egypt Advance Cargo Information (ACI)
In accordance with the new Egyptian Customs law #207 and related decrees effective November 2020, it is mandatory to indicate the shipment’s identity number (ACI number) for all cargo bound for Egypt as of 1st July 2021 (ETA at Port of Loading).
Advance Cargo information (ACI) is a new customs system that requires cargo data and documents (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bills of Lading and Cargo Manifest) to be submitted at least 48 hours before the vessel departs from the Loading Port.
With the complete implementation of ACI effective July 1, 2021, APLL (at Port of Loading) will strictly refrain from accepting or loading any shipment bound for Egypt at the first loading port if any ACI-related data is missing during validation. Importers need to communicate obtained ACI with exporters before loading date, enabling exporters to communicate required data with APLL at least 24 hours prior intended loading date to ensure a smooth loading of their shipments.
