Customer Advisory: Container Ship Zim Kingston – Containers Overboard & Fire
October 26, 2021
On October 24, 2021, the container vessel ZIM KINGSTON, reportedly during adverse weather conditions en route from Busan (South Korea) to the Port of Vancouver (Canada), reported the loss of approximately 40 containers overboard. Also, it is likely that some containers will have collapsed or been damaged in the affected stacks but remain onboard. The ship is currently anchored off Victoria, British Columbia.
General Average or Salvage issues may arise from this casualty, and the ZIM KINGSTON’s schedule will likely be delayed. It is recommended that you notify your cargo transportation insurers of this casualty.
We are monitoring the situation closely. As we learn more about the disposition of APL Logistics’ customer shipments, we will issue further updates. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact your APL Logistics Account Manager or local APL Logistics office.
