Customer Advisory: Port of Montreal – 72 Hour Strike Notice

The Montreal Longshoremen’s Union, The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 375, issued a 72-hour strike notice to the Maritime Employers Association (MEA). The strike started this morning at 7 AM (Monday, September 30) and will continue until 6:59 AM on Thursday, October 3.
The strike is isolated to the Viau and Maisonneuve container terminals at the Port of Montreal. During this time, mooring services and cargo handling will be halted, stopping all rail, vessel, and truck operations. Other terminals at the Port of Montreal will remain functional.
Negotiations between the CUPE Local 375 union and the MEA are ongoing. The strike follows a mandate approved by the union earlier this month.
