Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Mission: Turning Me into We.
We have a shared responsibility to create and sustain an enriching and diverse workplace for all APL Logistics colleagues and associates. Anchored to our company Maxims, our DEI strategy is to foster and sustain a company culture where people are respected for who they are, all contributions are valued, and our employees are united to achieve common goals.
EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS
Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led, and driven by a shared purpose. Organized around common identities, backgrounds, or interests, APLL’s ERGs are open to all APLL colleagues. Our ERGs provide a safe space for support, learning and networking where we can come together to facilitate career development, community engagement and business innovation.
Connecting African American employees to opportunities for leadership, education and career development, to the benefit of the entire APLL community.
Heritage, Opportunity, Leadership, Action (HOLA) is dedicated to raising awareness about the diverse backgrounds of our Latinx and Hispanic workforce and creating upward mobility opportunities for under-represented professionals.
Empowering, listening to, and mentoring the emerging, aspiring leaders of APL Logistics.
Committed to advocacy and support, our PRIDE group is comprised of LGBTQ+ employees and allies who meet to promote a culture of acceptance, dignity, and respect for all persons.
Cultivating a gender-inclusive environment that encourages women across all levels of APLL’s global workforce to advance their skills and leadership initiative.
INTERNS & IDEATHONS
FOSTERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF OUR WORKFORCE
SUMMER INTERN COHORTS
Each summer, APLL hosts a 12-week intern cohort to support teams from HR to Operations to Sustainability. This immersive experience allows students or recent graduates to gain hands-on, practical experience relevant to their field of study. APLL has hired interns from 16 leading institutions across the United States, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HWIs). Over the past 3 years the cohort size has grown by 64%, and upon program completion, 43% of interns have been hired by APLL in a full-time capacity.
GENERATING INNOVATION
APL Logistics continues to host collegiate Ideathon weekends: intensive brainstorming and recruitment opportunities designed for students interested in breaking into the logistics and supply chain industry! During each event, students have 24 to 48 hours to team up with their peers to solve logistics-related business challenges. The events are designed to provide scholarship, internship, and networking opportunities while helping participants learn more about career opportunities. APLL looks forward to continuing these opportunities and inspiring new leaders.
